4. Read Pakistan visa requirements & prepare documents

We highly recommend that you download and read the 5-page visa application form that includes instructions/requirements for an application. It contains a list of the following documents and requirements that are important to make a strong visa application.

SerialPakistan Visa Requirements and Instructions (combined)
1Completed/signed application form (obtained from Pakistan’s Visa Application Centre/Consulate/Embassy in your home country)
2Two (2) recent passport photographs (with white background)
3Valid passport along with a photocopy of passport
4Reference letter from workplace (stating return date). Anyone not in employment should provide a copy of their benefit letter, or any letter from a jobcentre or pension letter etc. If none of these are applicable you should explain your situation in a letter and submit this with your application.
5Copy of most recent bank statements (1 month at least)
6Proof of address (Utility Bill, Council tax bill, rental agreement or Driving License with paper counterpart)
7Invitation letter from sponsor (provided by designated tour operators or other hosts in Pakistan)
Note: we recommend booking through a tour operator to make your case strong. Applying through friends or other hosts can lead to a request for several of their personal documents and be time-consuming.
8Copy of tour operator’s registration with the government of Pakistan (provided by a designated tour operator)
9Itinerary and schedule of visit (your booking confirmation and itinerary – provided by a designated tour operator)
10Visa fee – This varies from country to country. A single entry tourist visa for UK citizens costs around £135 and is valid for 6 months from the date of issue, normally for a stay of up to 90 days.
11Pre-paid, self-addressed special delivery envelope for return of passport (unless collecting in person).
12Please send a scan or photo-copy of your completed/signed visa form to your tour operator if applying for a mountaineering/trekking visa. This helps them apply for a trekking/mountaineering permit.
13Please send a scan or photo-copy of your visa page to your tour operator once you have received your Pakistan visa and if applying for a mountaineering/trekking visa. This helps them verify and finalize your trekking/mountaineering permit with the authorities.
Note: Please be advised that visa requirements are subject to change by the Pakistan Government and also by individual officials within Embassies and High Commissions without notification.

5. Tips for filling out the form

  1. For ‘Type of visa applied for:’, tick ‘Tourist’
  2. For ‘Purpose of visit’, write ‘Tourism – Holiday with Tour Operator’s Name’
  3. For “Duration of”, write the number of days using the start and end dates of your trip on your itinerary. It should be close to your itinerary.
  4. For ‘Visa required for:’ tick ‘Less than 1 month’
  5. For ‘Type of visa:’ tick ‘single entry’
  6. Port of entry/departure is the city where you will arrive/depart.
  7. For places to be visited, write ‘please refer to itinerary attached’ and do not forget to attach your itinerary (sent by the tour operator). Make sure your itinerary is not in conflict with your tourist visa type, for example, you must apply for a “tourist – mountaineering visa” if you are coming to Pakistan to climb mountains.
  8. Where you are asked for an address in Pakistan, write your tour operator’s full address, email, phone, and mobile number.
  9. For the Sponsor’s name, write your tour operator’s full address, email, phone, and mobile number.

6. Make an appointment at the embassy/consulate or visa processing company

It is recommended that you consult the relevant Consulate by telephone before you make your application in case of recent alterations. Contact details for all Pakistan Consulates can be found here or on the Embassy or High Commission websites.

In the case of a visa processing company (such as Gerry’s Visa Dropbox, Travisa, etc), make sure to check out their website for office timings before paying them a visit. Visa processing companies charge a separate processing fee. In the UK for example, the visa processing fee is around £70.

7. Submit your documents

Applications can only be made in person or via a visa processing company in some countries. Please make sure to recheck all documents before submission. There are fewer or sometimes no chances for interviews if a visa processing company (such as Gerry’s Visa Assistance, Travisa, etc) is involved. Embassies and consulates may ask you to appear for a short interview.

8. Collect your document(s)

Following your application, you will be contacted by the relevant embassy/consulate or visa processing companies (such as Gerry’s) to arrange a time to collect the processed passport.
